ABOUT THE SESSION
You already build serious canvas apps. Now learn how to step into Power Apps code apps without needing to become a React developer. We will map canvas concepts to code apps, build a working app end-to-end live, and show an AI-assisted workflow that makes the code part approachable.
Power Apps code apps offer a code-first way to build modern web experiences while still leveraging the Power Platform fundamentals you rely on: identity, governance, and managed access to data and connectors. The challenge is that many experienced makers hesitate because “code” sounds like a gatekeeper. In this session, we will show that it does not have to be.
We will take a practical, repeatable path that is designed to feel familiar to canvas makers:
-
Canvas-to-code mapping: how screens, controls, Power Fx logic, data, and security translate into a code app architecture and workflow
-
Live end-to-end build: scaffold a code app, run it locally, connect it to your data, and publish it into Power Platform
-
AI-assisted workflow: we will show how we set up your AI code agent so it produces consistent output, not random code. That includes an AGENTS.md that acts as the project playbook, a small set of reusable skills, and practical context engineering.
We will also cover the current reality, including limitations, constraints, and common pitfalls, so you leave with a clear decision framework, a working starter pattern, and the confidence to take the next step.
